The annual “Thank Fulbright – Thanksgiving” event took place at Glacis Beisl in Vienna’s 7th district on November 27, also known as “Giving Tuesday.”  More than 100 alumni, friends and associates of the Fulbright Program joined together to celebrate the idea of mutual understanding in the spirit of Senator J. William Fulbright, the founder and namesake of this premiere academic exchange program.  Chargé d’Affaires Robin Dunnigan in her remarks referred to Thanksgiving as the United States’s most important family holiday where people come together to count their blessings and share a meal with family and friends.  What better time of year to get together, raise funds, and share opportunities with future generations of students than on Thanksgiving, she said.

The alumni, while enjoying each other’s company over traditional Thanksgiving fare – turkey with all the trimmings – raised more than € 20,000 that evening.  The sum will be doubled by incentive funding provided by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
