U.S. soprano Nicole Taylor spoke about the history of the African American spirituals, their original themes and the way they developed over time. Rediscovered during the Civil Rights Movement they continue to enchant audience all over the world. Mrs. Taylor not only talked but sang many examples of well known and lesser known spirituals. She was accompanied on the piano by Daniel Ernst, who is currently the Press Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Prague. During the lively evening Mrs. Taylor turned the audience into a choir and made them sing one song together with her.
In the morning before this concert Mrs. Taylor also talked and sang for students coming from schools in Vienna and Lower Austria.
