U.S. Ambassador Victoria Kennedy made her inaugural visit to the province of Styria this week.
In Graz on Tuesday, she met for the first time with Governor Hermann Schützenhöfer as well as with Deputy Governor Anton Lang and Provincial Councilor Christopher Drexler. The close contacts between Styria and the United States – especially in the economic sector – were the focus of the working meeting.
The USA Day, organized by the ICS Internationalization Center Styria in cooperation with the embassy’s trade section, gave the ambassador the opportunity to discuss the further intensification of the good economic relations with representatives of the Styrian economy. The United States is the second most important export market for Styria after Germany.
The Kleine Zeitung interview focused on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and the strong transatlantic response to it. Ambassador Kennedy thanked Austria for its “moral clarity in condemning the Russian invasion.”
Wednesday’s program included a school visit to the Graz International Bilingual School, including lively discussions with students.
Thank you very much for the hospitality! In the words of a famous American Styrian: We’ll be back!
