“The essence of intercultural education is the acquisition of empathy- the ability to allow for the possibility that others may see something we have failed to see, or may see it more accurately.”
– J. William Fulbright
Last night we kicked off the 22-23 academic year with a reception hosted by Ambassador Victoria Kennedy at her residence for incoming Fulbright scholars, as well as Gilman scholarship recipients, alumni, Fulbright board members and partners. They were greeted by Fulbright Austria Executive Director Hermann Agis and Fulbright Austria Board Member Barbara Weitgruber. The focus was on making new connections and building bridges for the year to come that will enrich our transatlantic relationship and bring the U.S. and Austria closer together.
The Fulbright program is one of the United States’ most historically significant and well-known exchange programs. Since 1950 more than 6,000 individuals have participated in the U.S.-Austria Fulbright program.
