In his remarks at the grand opening of the Austrian-American Society refurbished club quarters in Vienna last night, Ambassador Traina pointed out the significance of bilateral relationships on the personal level, and the important role of the AAS: “The close ties between the United States and Austria cannot happen without the people-to-people relationships that organizations such as the Austro-American Society promote. I am confident the AAS will continue to cultivate the next generation who will steer the Austrian-American relationship into the 21st century.”

Austrian Federal Chancellor Brigitte Bierlein reminisced about the of U.S. CARE packages, emphasized the vital U.S. support for European integration after World War II, and underlined the close friendship between Austria and the United States.
