IMED 2016 Hackathon

On November 3, Cultural Attaché Kellee Farmer visited the opening day of the IMED 2016 Hackathon to watch the action live. The Hackathon, which is best described as an “invention marathon,” had brought together a number of small, multi-disciplinary and international teams at the Vienna Hilton Hotel with the goal to create innovative ideas, build solutions and share their creations over the course of a two- day program. The event was held under the auspices of the Center for Public Health (Medical University of Vienna), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the International Society for Infectious Diseases and Epidemico, a spin off from the Harvard Medical School. Ms. Farmer, in her remarks, underlined the U.S. Embassy’s continued commitment to entrepreneurship and wished the participants much success for their endeavor.
