LGBTI reception

U.S. Embassy Vienna joins celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) Pride Month.

On June 5, Ambassador Trevor Traina hosted a reception for Austrian LGBTI leaders and activists at his residence, highlighting the U.S. commitment to advancing human rights, including equality for LGBTI persons. Stonewall GmbH managing director Katharina Kacerovsky and HOSI Wien chairman Moritz Yvon introduced this year’s pride events as well as the upcoming Europride 2019, which will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots. As in the past, the U.S. Embassy will also participate in the initiative “Diplomats for Equality”, issuing together with 30 embassies a statement in support of IDAHOT and marching in this year’s parade to jointly say that LGBTI rights are human rights.
