The state of Georgia will hold a U.S. Senate runoff election on December 6, 2022. If you are registered to vote in Georgia and you’ve requested a ballot for 2022, you should automatically receive your ballot.
For more information on this election, visit https://www.fvap.gov/
If you do not receive your ballot on time, complete and return a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) to ensure your vote reaches election officials by your state’s deadline. If your regular ballot arrives later, complete and return it as well. Your Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot will only be counted if your regular ballot does not reach local election officials by your state’s deadline. Your vote will not be counted twice.
RETURNING YOUR BALLOT
Since Georgia requires you to return paper voting forms or ballots to local election officials by mail, you can do so through a professional courier service or through the U.S. Embassy Vienna’s Diplomatic Pouch service.
The Embassy will transport your ballot to a U.S. sorting facility, then shipped to your local Georgia election office by U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Your voting materials must be in a sealed envelope addressed to your election office. You also must include U.S. postage, or print off a pre-paid postage envelope from https://www.fvap.gov/eo/
VIENNA DIPLOMATIC POST DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 21
To ensure delivery by Georgia deadlines, you must drop off your ballot at U.S. Consulate Vienna no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022. Georgia requires ballots to be postmarked by December 6 and received by December 9.
Ballots may be dropped off at the screening booth of U.S. Consulate Vienna, Parkring 12A (Marriott hotel building), Vienna. The hours of acceptance are from 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. No appointments are required. Be sure to ask for your “I voted” sticker!
After November 21, we strongly recommend that voters return their ballots by expedited courier service such as FedEx, UPS or DHL to ensure on-time delivery.
